Care of your Clay Chimenea
It’s now time to uncover your clay chimenea and do a little maintenance before burning for the time this year.
First lets start with emptying any old ashes and sand from the inside. Then we will start with some new sand. About 3 inches is good. This insulates the bowl of the Chimenea, and prevents cracking.
Next, clean the outside of the Chimenea and apply a coat of any brick or masonry sealer. This protects the clay from water, and may be done two or three times a year. Your Chimenea is now ready for the season. HAVE FUN and enjoy!
